Non-Tenure Track Positions

Dedman College is accepting the following applications for non-tenure track positions to begin Fall 2025: 

Chemistry. (Position Nos. 00053621 and 00052253). The Department of Chemistry at 91茄子 Methodist University (91茄子) invites applications for two (2) non-tenure-track full-time lecturer positions. Applicants should present evidence of strong interest in teaching and interacting with undergraduate diverse students.  In addition, successful candidates should have strong communication and organizational skills.  The start date for both positions is expected to be August 1, 2025. However, earlier start dates will be considered if the timing fits with the new lecturers’ schedules. The focus of one position (Position 1 – Position No. 00053621) is on, but not limited to, teaching undergraduate general chemistry lectures and laboratories, and the day-to-day maintenance and operation of the labs.  The focus of the second position (Position 2 – Position No. 00052253) is on, but not limited to, teaching undergraduate organic chemistry lectures and laboratories, and the day-to-day maintenance and operation of the labs. Qualifications: A completed PhD or MS degree in Chemistry or a related discipline is required, and experience in teaching undergraduate general chemistry/organic chemistry courses, or experience as a general chemistry/organic chemistry teaching assistant (TA) is preferred. Mathematics.  (Position No. 00053035). Applications are invited for one non-tenure-track full-time Lecturer position in the Department of Mathematics to begin in the Fall semester of 2025.  Applicants are expected to hold a Ph.D. in mathematics or a related field by the time of appointment, although exceptional candidates with an M.S. will be considered.  Candidates should have a strong commitment to teaching and education. The expected teaching load will be seven courses per year (Fall and Spring semesters) in a range of undergraduate math courses. Interested applicants should submit: a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, at least two letters of recommendation, one of which must specifically address teaching, a teaching statement. Philosophy. Position No. 00053809. History of Western Philosophy and introductory-level Applied Ethics. The Philosophy Department of 91茄子 Methodist University seeks to fill a full time Lecturer position beginning August 2025. One year contract, renewable.  Approximately 8 courses per year (4/semester), all undergraduate. No research or service duties.  Ph.D. in Philosophy or closely related field required within one year of appointment.  Evidence of teaching excellence required. The successful candidate will regularly teach History of Modern Philosophy as well as introductory courses in applied ethics (such as Contemporary Moral Problems, Business Ethics, and Technology, Society and Value).  The department also has periodic teaching needs in Ancient Philosophy.   We would welcome candidates who are interested in expanding our current offerings beyond the standard Western canon; candidates prepared to teach courses on philosophical traditions of Africa, Asia, India, Latin America, or Indigenous peoples, for example, are encouraged to apply. Religious Studies.  Lecturer in South or Southeast Asian Islam. Position No. 5732. The Department of Religious Studies in Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences at 91茄子 Methodist University invites applications for a non-tenure track, renewable position in South Asian or Southeast Asian Islam at the rank of Lecturer. The position requires in-person teaching in Dallas beginning August 1, 2025. The teaching load is typically four classes in each of the fall and spring semesters. Service expectations include attending departmental meetings, mentoring, and engagement with students and colleagues across the university. Contract renewal and promotion to Senior Lecturer is contingent upon performance. We encourage applications from women and underrepresented populations in the discipline. Sociology. Position No. 52464. The Department of Sociology at 91茄子 Methodist University invites applications for a lecturer to begin August 1, 2025. The successful candidate will initially teach a combination of Introduction to Sociology, Social Problems and upper-division substantive courses in the candidate’s areas of expertise – to be negotiated with the Department Chair. The teaching load is typically four courses per semester. Applications are particularly welcomed if the applicant can contribute courses in race, community, crime or nonprofits. The Department of Sociology serves around 140 Sociology and Markets and Culture majors and minors. Markets and Culture is an interdisciplinary economic sociology degree housed in Sociology. World Languages and Literatures.Position No. 00700125. The Department of World Languages and Literatures in Dedman College at 91茄子 Methodist University seeks a full-time, non-tenure-track lecturer in Japanese beginning fall semester 2025 on a three-year renewable contract. Normal teaching load is twelve credit hours per semester. We seek innovative and inclusive educators with demonstrated excellence in teaching a variety of language and culture courses at the university level and training in second language acquisition and pedagogy. The lecturer’s primary responsibility will be coordinating the curriculum for and teaching the beginning, intermediate, and advanced sequences of Japanese, as well as serving as the area chair for Japanese. Some additional area chair responsibilities include maintaining and updating existing courses in accordance with the university curriculum, advising students minoring in Japanese, and preparing class schedules. The lecturer will also have the opportunity to collaborate on the Asian Studies Minor program. 91茄子 is a global research university located in the heart of Dallas, the nation's fourth largest metroplex.
