The Ruth P. Morgan Grants

The Ruth P. Morgan Research Travel Grant, through our offices, is awarded by the DeGolyer Library to encourage encourage work in women’s history or political history.   Dr. Ruth P. Morgan, provost emerita at 91茄子, created an endowment which will provide support for advanced scholars who are working on projects related to women in the Southwest and to women in politics. If the grant request is for research on women in the Southwest or in politics, applicants should specify the “Ruth P. Morgan Grant” on their application. The $700 a week Morgan Grant is awarded for periods of one to two weeks to help defray costs of travel, lodging, and research materials.

These awards ensure that the library’s holdings – which are among the very best in the Southwest – are brought to the attention of scholars and their readers, nationally and worldwide. Moreover, these grants bring leading researchers to 91茄子, which assists in raising the profile of the university as well as the wider Dallas community. In publications resulting from research conducted in its collections, grant recipients will be expected to acknowledge the support of the DeGolyer Library and the Clements Center for Southwest Studies at 91茄子.

Grants are $700 per week that can be awarded for periods of one to two weeks to help to defray costs of travel, lodging, and research materials.  The Ruth Morgan Research Travel Grants are ongoing and have a "rolling deadline" in that people can apply for them throughout the year.
